Las Vegas Vacation Recommendations
My wife and I visit Las Vegas four times a year, and each trip is an opportunity to indulge in some of our favorite foods and restaurants. Here are a couple of must-try spots!
Our #1 Favorite Tacos
Absolutely no debate for us on where we stop first when we hit LV strip. Tacos El Gordo on the south end of the strip. Each Taco is ~ $4/each but the pile it on for that very low cost. I generally will 6 with 3 steak (Asada) & 3 pork (Al Pastor). We also get a side of cactus. Make sure you ask for avocado & salsa on top. You will have to stand in line for each type of taco. If you are brave, please try the beef tongue & the cow eye balls.
Almond Croissant
If you love almond croissants, you have to try the one at Sweet Sin—it’s hands down my favorite on the West Coast. At just $5, it’s an absolute steal. Pro tip: Have them heat it in their air fryer oven for the perfect balance of crispy, buttery, and flaky goodness. Trust me, it’s to die for! The folks behind the counter are exceptionally sweet too. Hard to find help that loves serving customers with a smile. I know, I owned a sweet shop business for 20+ years in Mountain View, CA. BTW. I know this is not a KETO recommended food but it’s ok to live a little too. Check out my Keto food blog on how to offset high carb meals. What to Eat Blog
Go-To Dinner Spot: Carson Kitchen
One of our favorite dining experiences in Vegas is Carson Kitchen for happy hour. Located near downtown, it’s just a quick $10 Uber or Lyft ride from the Strip. The menu features unique and inventive small plates that are perfect for sharing. Some of our favorites include:
- Pepp on Pepp flatbread – pepperoni, pepperoncini
- Wild Mushroom flatbread with bleu cheese, hot honey
- Bacon Jam – Havarti, toasted baguette
- “Devil’s” Eggs with crispy pancetta, caviar
- Gyro Tacos with feta crema, tomato cucumber relish
- Grilled Oysters with gochujang butter, crispy onion
- Pork Belly with buffalo bleu beurre blanc
- Chicken Thighs with alabama white barbeque
- Cocoa-Espresso NY Strip with red wine demi
- Short Rib Steak
If you’re looking for a fantastic meal in Vegas that won’t break the bank, Carson Kitchen’s is a must.
